We have Registered Education and Training Providers (shortly called REP's) in Botswana who carries PMI's blessing. Do keep in mind though, that if your trainer is not on the list, it does not mean that your training will be thought of as invalid by PMI.Please contact PMI Head Office in America, as they have access to records that we as the Botswana Chapter do not have: customercare@pmi.org

How do we become a Member?

To join PMI Chapter, you need to 1st join PMI; Payment for PMI membership is done via the web, using your credit card/ debit card.

Go to http://www.pmi.org and click on "Membership" in the top menu. Then on "Benefits of Membership" and the follow the link "Join or renew today" toward the top right-hand side. Follow the links from there for the type of membership you want, probably "Individual Member". When you click on "Join or renew now" the form will give you a choice to apply or renew.

To join the Botswana Chapter as well - In the text you will see a highlight for "Chapter" - click on it and you will get a list of chapters, with Botswana in there. It will give you the cost as well as a button to join. Add this to your cart, and when you check out, it tallies it all together - all quite friendly.

Just note that you will have to apply for general membership ($139) anyway and cannot only join a chapter ($30) in stand-alone fashion.

The benefits to membership of PMI is free e-version of the PMBOK 5th Edition and 6th Edition (the basis of all the certifications), as well access to a virtual library and Communities of Interest which focus on specific areas of Project Management. Not to mention regular newsletters, the PMI Journal and the PMI Network Magazine and a DISCOUNT on your PMI certification exam.

By being a member of your local Chapter and PMI you'll be able to network with like-minded individuals who are either already certified or studying. You do not need to have already written your PMP to join and attend the PMI Botswana presentations.

How do we renew our Membership?

When 15 or more of your employees join PMI and join at least onechapter, you can save money and consolidate paperwork through our groupbilling plan — a group-invoice program for employees of the sameorganization. How do we Submit a PDU?

Online or Digital Media is for PMI recorded webinars.

Volunteer/Work as a practitioner:Under the new requirements, you may claim maximum of 25 PDUs under Giving Back, which includes Sharing Knowledge, Volunteering and Working as a Practitioner.

Organization meetingsType in Organization/host text box: Bots “ PMI Botswana Chapter”will be displayed on-screen.

 

  • Click PMI Botswana Chapter to select option.
  • Enter Meeting Title.
  • Enter Description
  • Date started and Completed
  • PDU claim (Usually 1 PDU = 1 Hr)

Where do we write Exams?

How can we Apply to become a PMI registered education provider - REP?

The guidelines to apply to become a PMI registered education provider(REP) are applicable to any institution in the world.  PMI in the United States manages the REP registration process.  http://www.pmi.org/learning/training-development/reps/become-rep

Once you are registered with PMI, your information will be available on the PMI website, available to all in South Africa who wish to enrol in project management courses. For further enquiries please contact customercare@pmi.org

How do we know if a training centre is valid for PMI training?

What NQF/GED level are the PMI courses?

Please note that none of the PMI certifications are accredited with local Qualification Authorities. This is due to it being an internationally recognised certificate and not limited to a specific country.

Please be advised that you would need to contact the NQF/GED in your location to establish the level of the CAPM and PMP as well as the credits applicable to that framework.

How can we join the Chapter mailing list?

Create a profile on the PMI website with all your details as the e-mail address list is generated from the PMI database,  or mail your details to membership@pmibotswana.org

Your contact information must be kept updated on the PMI website as the e-mail address list is generated from the PMI database.
