What are the benefits of becoming a PMI member?

As a PMI member you are kept up to date on local and global Project Management information in various industries. With over 35 online communities there will never be a question unanswered. You can download all PMI foundational standards, practice standards and frameworks for free including the Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)

Why pay extra and become a Botswana Chapter member?

The Botswana Chapter is an exciting community to be part of. The chapter runs a number of breakfasts and evening events featuring local and international speakers. If you're looking for new opportunities, wanting to connect with like minded people and expand your professional network, the Botswana Chapter offers this and much more. PMP Exam preparation sessions are regularly run helping Project Managers get certified, and we have short courses focusing on certain areas of Project Management e.g scheduling or earned value etc.

Can my PMI Certification be verified?

A person's PMI certification status can usually be verified through the online Certification Registry at https://certification.pmi.org/Registry.aspx

Since certification holders may choose not to be listed in the online Certification Registry, they may hold a PMI certification even if their names do not appear within the listing. Therefore, if you are unable to locate an individual’s name and credential(s) in the registry, you may send a signed release to +1 484 631 1332 and PMI will provide you with a confirmation of their status.

I have just moved from other country to Botswana. Can I transfer my membership?

This is normally done on a case-by-case basis. Members who wish to transfer their chapter membership can contact the African Customer Care team. Our team will work with the PMI Membership team to further assist members. Please note that additional chapter membership fees may apply.

Can I become a member of two different states/chapters at the same time?

You certainly can, however each chapter you decide to join will incur a joining fee (fees listed on PMI global website)

How do I learn more about the various PMI Certifications available?

PMI offers a comprehensive certification program for project practitioners of all education and skill levels. For a list of all available certifications and choosing the right one for you, refer to : http://www.pmi.org/Certification.aspx

I have just joined the Botswana Chapter. Can you advise my login details for the Botswana Chapter website?

To log into the Chapter site you will need your preferred email address (as provided to PMI) for your Username and your PMI ID as your Password . You can change your password at any time after logging in, by using the 'My Account' link on the login panel. It takes a day or two for your details to filter through to the Botswana website.

Do I have to join as a PMI Global member in order to be come a Botswana Chapter Member?

The Botswana Chapter is a component of the PMI Global organisation. To become a member of the Botswana Chapter, you must first be a PMI member. To join, simply follow http://www.pmi.org/Membership/Membership-Benefits-of-Membership.aspx

I have a Masters Degree in Project Management from a University. Am I automatically PMP certified as a holder of a Masters Degree in PM or do I need to go through the process to be certified?

Unfortunately there is no automatic route to becoming PMP certified. It is necessary to sit the exam and to meet the associated pre-conditions.

Your masters degree may cover you for a number of contact hours. However you will also need working experience to qualify.

I have renewed my PMI membership & Botswana chapter membership, however I have not received my Tax Receipt. How can I obtain a copy? p>You can log into the pmi.org site - https://my.pmi.org/orders - and reprint a copy.
